The legacy of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Gillian Welch is there in these songs and, like these greats, Live’s voice is a North Star that shines through every song

The path to success usually has many sharp turns and unexpected detours, but that has especially been true for Live Miranda Solberg.

When Solberg, better known as her musical moniker Louien, shared a demo on her Soundcloud page in 2016, she had no idea she would quickly find success in her home country of Norway. As one of the standout voices in the four-piece outfit Silver Lining, Solberg earned widespread acclaim and performed at some of the region’s largest music festivals.

That collective success led her to create her first solo record, None of My Words. Released in 2019, the project represented a pivotal yet incredibly challenging period in her life. She lost her father, an actor and singer who left a lasting influence on Louien, helping to shape and encourage her creative talents. The LP introduced Louien as an artist unafraid to lay her heart on the table, even when most would hide it away to heal. Upon its release, None of My Words earned praise from Wide Open Country, Atwood Magazine, Americana UK and many more.

Following the success of her first solo endeavor, Louien found herself in a new season of life. The disorienting fog of grief had begun to lift, allowing her to more easily explore new subjects and ideas through songwriting.

Where None of My Words explored the many emotional layers of loss, Louien’s latest creative endeavor acts as a stepping stone toward a new normal.

The EP «No Tomorrow» establishes Louien firmly in new territory, with a bold creative perspective and outlook. With the guidance of producer Øyvind Røsrud and a collection of incredibly talented musicians on hand, they created a textured indie folk soundscape that's as engaging as it is uplifting.

Lead single “Better Woman” speaks from the perspective of a woman desperately trying to get through to her loved one, and questioning her own self-worth in the process. “Deep Within” explores the feeling of entering a chapter you’ve longed for finally coming into grasp, while “Woke Up from the Dead” examines those unexplainable moments when someone who has passed on seem to reappear in the strangest of places.

With wide eyes and a full heart, Louien has brought to life a set of songs that speak to the human experience, in all its ever-changing complications, mysterious moments and sharpest of turns.
